Designed as a drop in replacement for the 1/48 Tamiya kit, these open gills are to replace the closed ones supplied in the kit. The gills could be opened on the aircraft either on the ground or in the air so they can be used pretty much on any Beaufighter model. This is a revised casting of the original Beaufighter gills as reviewed in 2008 by Steve Mackenzie.

Karachi, India. c. 1944. Aircrew members inspect the Bristol Beaufighter aircraft which arrived at the Karachi airfield on completion of the ferry flight from Cairo.
Coomalie Creek, NT. December 1943. Members of No. 31 (Beaufighter) Squadron RAAF standing by ready for the signal to board their aircraft for action against the enemy.

The set

The two pieces are supplied in the usual cream coloured resin but unfortunately there are a small number of bubbles in it, fortunately the pin holes are easily corrected. As shown in the attached images these items are a direct replacement of the kit part with no modification required to make them fit.

I highly recommend these items for something different for your Beaufighter. Whilst the review sets show a number of air bubbles and pin holes these are easily rectified and should not detract from the set.
