M113-A1 FSV

Tamiya 1/35 M113A1 Fire Support Vehicle RAAC Vietnam

by Dave Freeman

An M113A1 Fire Support Vehicle was developed by the Australian Army for use in the Vietnam War. Developed from the basic M113 chassis and drive train, it was fitted with the turrent of the UK Saladin Armoured Car, which featured a 76mm cannon. The overall increase in weight of this addition to the M113 of about 2 tons made this vehicle less air portable and led to a great deal of extra wear on the drive train.

The Model

The model is from the 1/35th scale Tamiya Kit MM-207, and is built basically out of the box.
