Introduction

Spitfire A58-379 was the regular mount of F/Lt Dave Glaser RAF (3 shared and 1 probable - 1940-42). Andrew Thomas (Osprey) states this aircraft was flown by 549 squadron CO and 5 victory ace S/Ldr Eric Bocock on an air to ground sortie in August 1944 and Dave Glaser flew it on a strafing attack to Selaroe Island in October 1944. However, Pentland states that paint stripped spitfires were not used on operations until they were repainted. ADF serials states that A58-379 was repainted foliage green and sky blue in November 1944 so I have some doubt as to the accuracy of the above.
